An effortless recycle process

Designing packaging that is fully curbside recyclable, without the need to separate film layers or components, makes recycling more convenient and significantly increases the likelihood that consumers will recycle it. When packaging requires extra steps—such as peeling off a plastic film or separating different materials—many people either skip the process or recycle the item incorrectly, leading to contamination in recycling streams. By creating packaging that can be placed directly into curbside recycling bins without any additional effort, we remove a key barrier to proper disposal. Making recycling easier for consumers leads to higher participation rates and helps maximize the environmental benefits of recycling programs.

Let's make the most of a circular economy

To maximize the sustainability of renewable forests, it's essential to ensure that cardboard is recycled properly and reused as many times as possible. Cardboard can be recycled up to seven times before the fibers become too short to be reused, making it one of the most recyclable materials available. However, each recycling cycle slightly weakens the fibers, which can reduce the strength of recycled cardboard. To address this, innovative packaging designs can compensate for the loss in strength by using layered structures, reinforced seams, or strategic folding techniques to maintain durability without relying on virgin materials. By optimizing recycling practices and improving design, we can extend the life cycle of cardboard and ensure forests are used more efficiently and responsibly.

Repurposing plastics for a positive impact

The urgent need to reduce plastic waste and combat microplastic pollution has led to growing interest in developing biodegradable and home-compostable plastics. Traditional plastics, derived from fossil fuels, persist in the environment for centuries, breaking down into harmful microplastics that contaminate soil, water, and air. In contrast, biodegradable and compostable plastics are designed to degrade naturally under specific conditions, reducing long-term environmental impacts. By using plant-based materials like cornstarch, potato starch, and polylactic acid (PLA), scientists are creating alternatives that decompose more quickly and safely, leaving no toxic residues behind. These innovative materials hold the potential to reduce our reliance on conventional plastics, especially in single-use products like packaging, utensils, and bags, which make up a significant portion of global plastic waste.

Reduction of emissions powered by creativity

Reducing a package's size is a powerful way to decrease carbon emissions and promote more sustainable product design. Smaller packaging reduces the amount of raw materials required, which lowers the energy-intensive processes of material extraction, production, and transportation. It also allows more products to be shipped in a single load, reducing the number of trips and the associated fuel consumption. However, achieving smaller, efficient packaging requires innovative design approaches. Designers must rethink the structure, durability, and functionality of packaging to ensure it still protects the product while using less material. This often involves leveraging new materials, optimizing shapes for compactness, and improving recyclability. Such innovation not only minimizes environmental impact but also aligns with consumer demand for eco-friendly products, driving companies toward greener practices.

The Difference

  1. No adhesives are used in the bonding of our film to it's corrugated allowing our packaging to simply be "tossed in the bin"
  2. Our dedicated design center prototypes, samples, tests and finalizes all of our designs strictly with previously recycled corrugated.
  3. PAC 360 is an industry leader in implementing biodegradable & home compostable films to our packaging solutions.
  4. Our patented & innovative designs use custom size boxes to dramatically reduce cube sizes while maintaining superior protection of the product.
